Doug had been planning on putting in a new driveway pretty much since he bought the house. but I don't think he was quite ready when things just started falling in place!! he helped a buddy do some work, and since the excavator was rented for the whole weekend, after doing work over there, they came over to our house and started tearing out the old driveway...couldn't have worked out better.
the next process after tearing out the driveway is filling in dirt, setting the forms, and putting in rock. this was done a week ago sunday. I helped out by bar-b-queing grilling for the first time EVAR!! LOL hotdawgs and bratwurst. and whatdaya know? I only dropped two of the dawgs and didn't burn a damn thing.
they split the pour into two. because of the stupid weather, they didn't get to do the first pour until last thursday. first half of the driveway/patio, and front walk. the walks were "flagstoned" and the driveway was mag finished with a swirl. didn't it turn out beautiful?
the second pour was done last saturday. this time, I got to watch from start to finish, and was amazed at how quickly the concrete got off the truck and on the ground...but finishing took a tad longer, because they had to wait for the concrete to set. the entire process was pretty facinating. concrete work is an ART.
and then what do you know? the damn rains came AGAIN. so the fresh concrete got covered in plastic. but it's DONE AT LAST!!! now comes yard cleanup. :)
